How a Canon EOS 1000D looks like after a year submerged at the bottom of the ocean

A British Columbia firefighter dropped it in the sea in August 2010.

Recently, it was found by at the bottom of Deep Bay, Vancouver, British Columbia by scuba diving wildlife photographer Markus Thompson.

He was able to recover 50 photos from the SD memory card.

Of course the camera no longer works.

Does this means is that flash memory is forever?
