The future of the earth

Plate tectonics will probably result in a supercontinent in 250–350 million years.

Some time in the next 1.5–4.5 billion years, the axial tilt of the Earth may begin to undergo chaotic variations, with changes in the axial tilt of up to 90°. That could mean the equator becomes cooler than the poles for as long as 10 million years.

In about 600 million years, most plants will die.

A few million years later, animal life will be extinct.

In about 1.1 billion years, the sun will be 10% brighter than it is now, resulting in the oceans evaporating.

In about 4 billion years, the earth's surface temperature will have increased to the point that rocks melt. This means most living things on earth will die off.

In about 7.5 billion years, the earth will be engulfed by the Sun in its Red Giant phase, hence destroying it.
