According to palaeontologist Dr Zhe-Xi Luo, of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh said: "Juramaia, from 160 million years ago, is either a great-grand-aunt, or a 'great-grandmother' of all placental mammals that are thriving today."
Juramaia sinensis is a small, furry mouse-like animal that lived 160 million years ago in what is now north east China. It was agile and was a good climber.
Yes, dinosaurs were kings of the earth then, but the juramaia used its climbing skills to hide in trees.
