Prostitution is legal in Germany.
They can get legal work contracts, including health insurance, unemployment assurance, nursing care insurance and a pension insurance.
The city of Bonn has introduced a parking meter for prostitutes who work on the street, the first such meter in the world.
Each prostitute has to pay €6 (USD8.70) in tax per night.
They pay the fee at a meter and receive an automatically printed ticket, which they have to carry with them and show if demanded by tax inspectors.
When the machine was first emptied, 264 euros were found, meaning 44 people paid.
They are only allowed to work on one street.
In 2010, authorities built "consummation areas": 6 wooden cubicles, surrounded by screens on 3 sides for clients to meet prostitutes.
A spokeswoman for the city said they expected to get about 200,000 euros per year from the meter.
There are believed to be about 200 prostitutes in Bonn.
Bonn has also erected "consummation areas", or wooden garages clients may use to err...visit prostitutes.
