Why: because it's an Apollo lunar module rainbow-look titanium propellant tank.
It might have been sent to the moon if NASA went ahead with Apollo 18, 19 and 20, as originally planned. Instead, all 3 missions were canceled, hence the tanks were no longer needed.
Owned by Dale Cox III, Seattle-area resident.
His father picked it up in 1970.
Titanium never changes color, and it doesn't corrode.
Titanium is very expensive, can't imagine the price if you actually ordered a titanium water tank for your home.
