Apparently the shoe lost by Ms Gillard was advertised on eBay for around USD150, but later taken off, and was given to a security guard at Parliament House by a member of the Aboriginal tent embassy.
The description said: "Please bear in mind also this is a single shoe, not a pair, so it would be difficult to walk in, unless you're the PM."
The PM replied with a smile: "It really doesn't worry me. I'm in a fortunate situation where I'm a woman with a few pairs of shoes."
A new image I saw shows the PM being even more roughly manhandled than was initially shown:

26 January 2012
The police was called to the Lobby Restaurant in Canberra after Aboriginal-rights protesters trapped the Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott inside who were attending an Australia Day event.
Around 200 protesters who had just marched to commemorate the Aboriginal Tent Embassy's 40th anniversary surrounded the building, trapping both party leaders for about 20 minutes. They banged on the three glass sides of restaurant chanting "shame" and "racist" and chased both leaders' car as they left, all the while banging on the roof and bonnet.
Amidst furious online debate for and against all sides, more lighthearted comments include:
The copper in the picture hugging Julia Gillard is going to have a hard time explaining it to his wife tonight, and the ribbing he is going to have in the Police canteen tomorrow will put the chasers to shame.
