Event: Muhammad Ali, 23 stands over Sonny Liston who he just KOed 2:12 into the first round on 25th May 1965, retaining his The Ring & WBC World Heavyweight titles.
Ali stood over his fallen opponent, gesturing and yelling at him, "Get up and fight, sucker!" The moment was captured by ringside photographer Neil Leifer in what has become one of the most iconic images in sport, chosen as the cover of the Sports Illustrated special issue, "The Century's Greatest Sports Photos". Ali then raised his fists in the air celebrating the knockdown.
The fight was a rematch - their first fight was in February 1964, during which Ali became world champion for the first time, when he TKOed Liston in the 7th round, who was then the reigning The Ring, WBA & WBC World Heavyweight Champion of the World.
