Hangar One was built in 1933 to house the 228m long USS Macon airship.
It was the largest building in the world without interior supports - and remains among the biggest still.
Dimensions:
Height: 198' (60m)
Length: 1,133' (345 m)
Width: 308' (94 m)
Area: 8 acres (3.2 hectares)
Later used to house planes, it's big enough for 6 american football fields.
The interior is so large that fog sometimes forms near the ceiling.
The clam-shell doors (orange peel doors) weighs 180 metric tons each and are moved by their own 110 kW motors operated via an electrical control panel.
